How the test works

Reacting fast is easy — stopping is hard

Once you're primed to click on green, your finger wants to fire at anything. The no-go trials measure response inhibition — the brain's brake. Clicking a red is a false alarm, and cutting those down without slowing your go reactions is the real challenge.

Tasks like this resemble components of clinical continuous-performance assessments, but this is a quick benchmark for curiosity and practice — not a diagnostic or screening tool for any condition.

Questions
What does the Go/No-Go test measure?
Two things at once: how fast you react to a go signal, and how well you inhibit a response to a no-go signal. The second part — response inhibition — is what makes it different from a plain reaction test.
What is a false alarm?
Clicking when a red (no-go) stimulus appears. It means your impulse to respond overrode the brake. A low false-alarm rate with fast go times is the goal.
Can this diagnose ADHD?
No. While inhibition tasks resemble parts of clinical assessments, this is a quick, uncontrolled web benchmark for curiosity and practice only — it cannot screen for or diagnose any condition. Speak to a professional for that.
Why are my go reactions slower than on the classic test?
Because you also have to check whether each stimulus is a go or a no-go before acting. That extra decision adds time — the same reason choice reactions are slower than simple ones.
