How the test works

Reacting fast is easy — stopping is hard

Prime yourself to click on green and your finger starts wanting to fire at anything. What the no-go trials measure is response inhibition, the brain's brake. A click on red is a false alarm, and the real challenge is cutting those down without letting your go reactions slow.

Components of clinical continuous-performance assessments do resemble tasks like this, but what you have here is a quick benchmark for curiosity and practice, not a diagnostic or screening tool for any condition.

Questions
What does the Go/No-Go test measure?
Two things at once: your speed reacting to a go signal, and your ability to inhibit a response to a no-go signal. That second part, response inhibition, is what sets it apart from a plain reaction test.
What is a false alarm?
Clicking when a red (no-go) stimulus appears. Your impulse to respond beat the brake. What you want is a low false-alarm rate alongside fast go times.
Can this diagnose ADHD?
No. Inhibition tasks do resemble parts of clinical assessments, yet this remains a quick, uncontrolled web benchmark meant for curiosity and practice only. Screening for or diagnosing any condition is beyond it. Speak to a professional for that.
Why are my go reactions slower than on the classic test?
You have to check whether each stimulus is a go or a no-go before acting. Time goes into that extra decision, for the same reason choice reactions trail simple ones.
