01Not medical or diagnostic advice

The tests on ReactionBench are provided for general information, entertainment and self-improvement only. They are not a medical device and must never be used to diagnose, screen for, monitor or rule out any health condition — including concussion, ADHD, neurological disorders, or the effects of alcohol, medication or fatigue. Some of our tests share surface features with tasks used in clinical research, but a browser benchmark run on your own hardware is not a controlled clinical instrument. If you have any concern about your reaction time, cognition or health, consult a qualified professional.

02Accuracy and hardware limitations

We time to the painted frame using a high-precision clock, but no in-browser test can be lab-grade. Your display, input device, browser and operating system together add roughly 20–50 milliseconds of latency that we cannot see or remove. Absolute values should therefore be treated as approximate. Where ReactionBench is genuinely useful is relative comparison — tracking your own progress over time on the same setup, or comparing your senses against one another. See our methodology page for the full detail.

03Percentiles and grades are estimates

Grades, percentiles and population comparisons are derived from published reaction-time research and public aggregates. They are reasonable estimates for a general audience, not precise measurements of where you rank in the world. Individual variation is wide, and your result on any single run can be affected by alertness, practice, distraction and the device you are using.

04Use at your own risk

Some tests involve rapid, repeated clicking or tapping. Stop immediately and rest if you feel any strain or discomfort in your hand, wrist or arm. You are responsible for taking sensible breaks. ReactionBench and its authors accept no liability for any injury, loss or consequence arising from use of the site.
